About Us - History

The foundation stone of Goodwill School, Balapur was laid on 01 Apr 1998 as a Civic Action Programme by the Army.  The school was initially housed in operational works shelters and was located contiguous to Headquarters of 62Rashtriya Rifles (DOGRA) near Balapur village. 

            Present School building has been constructed in a valley surrounded by imposing mountains and located adjacent to the bank of the Rembiara River approximately 4.5 kilometers from the village of Balapur.  On winters the sight becomes breathtaking with snow bound hills all around.  Army Goodwill School, Balapur has been established with the single minded perseverance of carrying forward the legacy of its parent organization that of being an institute which is a compendium of holistic education and over all development of a child .Our talented, diverse communities of students and teachers will enable us to build a close knit supportive team of enthusiastic learners of all ages. Ample scope for development of the students is ensured by the positive physical environment of the school, spacious and well ventilated class room facilitate both the physical as well as the social environment of the school.

            The School is dedicated to imparting quality English Medium Education to the children of Shopian and Pulwama District and surrounding areas in a free and tranquil environment so as to mould them into able citizens of tomorrow.  The emphasis is on achieving better academic standards and providing an ideal atmosphere for their overall growth so as to develop healthy social habits amongst them.  The school is imparting education for students from UKG upto class X and running with approx 300 students.
